or seeking solutions to management issues.

- Business Initiation Support
Project (Business Initiation Grants)
Although many entrepreneurs and small and medium enterprises
possess excellent technological "seeds" and business ideas,
they have trouble starting new businesses. In response to this situation,
SMRJ supports
business initiation by providing financial assistance of up to
five million yen in capital (or half the expenses of implementing the
business plan
to which the grant is being applied), in addition to offering
consulting services designed to lead to the formation and application
of concrete
business plans.
We target small and medium enterprises, sole proprietors, and
individuals not managing a business, but who are planning to establish
a business or a company in the near future. In order to be eligible for
grants, businesses must satisfy either (1) or (2) below, and must be judged
to have a reasonable chance of operating on their own without grants from
SMRJ within two years after the end of the grant period.
(1) Businesses based on new product or new technology developments,
(2) Businesses using innovative methods to offer products and
services, and for which the grant period is twelve months or less.
Grants shall be equal to no more than half the costs of implementing
the business plan to which the grant is being applied, and shall be between
one million and five million yen.

Activities include:
- Venture Fair Japan
- The Venture Plaza
- SME Expo, "Sougoten"
- Research and Development Exchange Fair

Supporting collaboration between small and medium enterprises
from different fields that are conducting new operations
We offer support to groups of two or more small or medium enterprises
from different fields that are working together to establish new business
activities (new collaborative projects), and this support is provided through "Regional
Strategic Committees for the Promotion of New Partnerships (Strategic Committees)," which
we have established in each regional block. Through the "Strategic
Committee Office," we provide comprehensive support for collaborations,
from the business planning stage to the establishment of new businesses
and the bringing to market of new products and services.

Supporting venture businesses aiming to go public, and
small and medium enterprises attempting to enter new business areas
or establish new businesses
SMRJ provides capital and managerial support to venture businesses
and small and medium enterprises looking to develop new business operations,
by investing in limited liability investment partnerships (funds) established
by private investment companies.
Operation of funds (investment in individual companies) is conducted
by the investment companies. |
